Lisa Tuchek is a North Carolina native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a BSN in Nursing. She has been a resident of Beaufort, NC, since 2007, after relocating there from Nashville, TN.
For many years, Lisa considered herself to be an “outsider” artist since she did not receive formal art education at the University level. However, she did study with various Nashville, TN artists while living there for 12 years and has continued to grow as an artist while living in Beaufort. Lisa has developed a fun, colorful and unique style of painting that has become very popular in the area; showing her work frequently at various events and numerous venues in North Carolina. Her work is continually evolving and changing through the process of experimenting with new techniques in creating her original art and through painting commissioned pieces of a variety of subject matter for collectors of her work.
In addition to creating her own artwork, Lisa has been and continues to be very active promoting other area artists and generating art interest in the local community. She started Beaufort’s first Holiday Art Walk in 2011. She organized this event for the first 3 years and it has now become a much anticipated annual event. Lisa previously co-owned and operated an art gallery and teaching studio, where she became a very popular art teacher for budding artists.
